Christ-Centered Education for Life
Teacher Spotlight: Mr.Becker

It is time once again to embark on our Teacher Spotlight series.  Over the course of coming weeks, we will spend time highlighting the newer faculty here at Lutheran East.  We have an incredibly talented, thoughtful, and diverse group of faculty who contribute to the successes we experience as a school each year.

For the first Teacher Spotlight, we will feature Mr. Jason Becker, who teaches math and religion while also coaching Track.  He joined our faculty last year. Mr. Becker is a vibrant, positive Christian force in the lives of the students.  He always has a smile and an encouraging word for students. We look forward to spending many more years with Mr. Becker!

During the interview all respondents were asked a series of questions to help us learn more about them. See what Mr. Becker  has to say:

L.E.:  What is your favorite Bible verse or quote?

Mr. Becker:  Matthew 28:19-20

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you to the very end of the age.”

L.E.:  Tell us about your family.

Mr. Becker:  My dad is a pastor and my mother is an early childhood teacher. I have one older brother who works as an athletic trainer for the Yankees, serving in their minor league system. My grandma, who I share a birthday with, turned 100 this summer!

L.E.:  Tell us about where you went to college.

Mr. Becker: I went to Concordia University Chicago. It is a small private university in the suburb River Forest. I served as a Resident Assistant and spiritual adviser for a floor my junior year.

L.E.  Tell us about your hobbies or sports you are interested in

Mr. Becker:  I am a weird mix of musician and athlete. I play piano and guitar. I took piano lessons for 10 years and have been playing for 13. Growing up I played soccer, baseball, basketball, track, and golf. I was a three sport letterman in high school in golf, basketball, and track. I love to watch football and basketball.

L.E.:  If you had to choose Ohio State or Michigan, which would it be?

Mr. Becker: Michigan

L.E.:  Why did you decide to become an educator?

Mr. Becker:  My math teacher in high school heard that I wanted to study psychology, but yelled at me and told me that I should use my math skills. Since I wanted to coach when I got older, becoming a math teacher allowed me to do both.

Anything else you would like us to know…

Mr. Becker:  Within the past 18 months, I have moved twice, gotten married, and bought a house!

We are so excited the both Mr. Becker and his wife have moved to Cleveland, and that both are involved  in ministering to those in need. Serving God is not always a glorious job, but it is definitely important.  It requires a true servants heart to daily carry out the will of God to love His people.
