2015 Commencement Ceremony
2015 Commencement Ceremony

Think for a second about your happiest days from the past 12 months.  Perhaps these memories will have something in common. They’re days that are shared with the people you love. They’re days that commemorate various milestones. They’re days that are filled with authentic joy and real community. They’re days that are looked forward to with eager anticipation.  For these reasons, speaking both personally and for our staff and faculty at Lutheran East, I can write with great certainty that graduation day is one of the happiest days of the year!

Graduation for school year 2014-15 took place on Saturday, May 30, and although the ceremony didn’t start until 3 PM, families were starting to find their seats in the auditorium before 1!  By the time the ceremony started, the auditorium was filled and ready to congratulate and celebrate with the graduating seniors. Inspired by the words of our keynote speaker, faculty member Rev. P. Mandel Childs, our graduates proudly walked across the stage and into the next chapter of their lives.

Graduation is a unique time that is balanced between looking forward to what’s next, while reminiscing about the experiences of high school years gone by. After collecting their diplomas our graduates paused for just a moment to shake Principal Chris Steinmann’s hand, get their picture taken, and take one more glance out at the cheering crowd. In that brief moment, and sometimes through teary eyes, the now distinguished alumni got to see that their future is bright.
