1st Ever Unity Day Celebration
1st Ever Unity Day Celebration

Lutheran East celebrated Unity Day on Wednesday.  Students had an assembly this week where they discussed bullying.  What makes the assembly special is the fact that it was student-led.  Kamilah Dotson, junior, along with Andrew Pope and Jeri Pollard, juniors, spoke to our students about the importance of preventing bullying in school.  Kamilah and Jeri shared stories of young people who were bullied and how that bullying can sometimes cause a young person to commit suicide.  Andrew shared a very touching, personal story with the students at Lutheran East.  To encourage a real commitment to the anti-bullying movement, Kamilah and other students set up a table at lunch where students could sign a petition against bullying and receive an orange ribbon to participate in Unite Day.  Students showed overwhelming support for bullying prevention at Lutheran East.  The faculty and administration is certainly proud of the student body and the Junior class who organized the event.
