Faculty Spotlight: Mr.Luecke

This week’s Teacher Spotlight features Mr. Matt Luecke who teaches History and Religion here at Lutheran East. Matt and his family are dedicated Lutherans who ardently support Lutheran education and its value to the students. Mr. Luecke previously taught middle school, and he still coaches a middle school basketball team for St. John Nottingham. We are excited to have Matt on board as he has really been a great addition to our History and Religion Departments.

Let’s see what Mr. Luecke has to share:

L.E.: What is your favorite Bible verse or quote?

Mr. Luecke: Psalm 139:13-14 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,

I know that full well.

L.E.: Tell us about your family.

Mr. Luecke: I am an only child and my parents currently live in Florida. Most of my extended family lives in the Greater Cleveland Area.

L.E.: Tell us about where you went to college.

Mr. Luecke: I earned my undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and loved every minute of my four years there. I then earned my Lutheran Teacher's Diploma from Concordia University Ann Arbor.

L.E. Tell us about your hobbies or sports you are interested in

Mr. Luecke: I coach girls volleyball and boys basketball at St. John Nottingham. I also play beach and indoor volleyball, basketball, and softball in area church leagues. I also enjoy golfing, watching sports, and spending time with my girlfriend.

L.E.: If you had to choose Ohio State or Michigan, which would it be?

Mr. Luecke: Ohio State

L.E.: Why did you decide to become an educator?

Mr. Luecke: I wanted to enter a profession that kept me active and involved with others. I truly believe that God intended for me to become a teacher.

We are truly blessed to have a teacher like Mr. Luecke who is a product of Lutheran Education and who devotes himself to our profession as his service to the Lord. We are also blessed to have a teacher who relates well to students and motivates them to continue working and learning even when the learning is tough. We wish Mr. Luecke many more years of blessings here at Lutheran East.
