Faculty Spotlight: Mr.Prusinksi

This week’s spotlight focuses on Mr. Prusinski who teaches Old and New Testament Classes at Lutheran East. He is also our Dean of Students. Mr. Prusinski has a very understated nature about him, but he diligently works in a critical support role. He helps to assure that students come to class on time, attend school regularly, follow dress code, and act accordingly while in school. He also plays a large part in recruiting students to Lutheran East each year. His role at school is hard to thoroughly define, but let’s say that it’s important to the daily functioning of the school as a whole.

Mr. Prusinski would be the last person to highlight his own accomplishments at school, but we are not shy about touting our appreciation for everything he does on a daily basis: long work hours, genuine concern for students, and dedication to our success as a ministry in the Cleveland Heights area.

Let’s see what Mr. Prusinski had to say during our interview:

L.E.: What is your favorite Bible verse or quote?

Mr. Prusinski: I've always loved Philippians 2:3-4 "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others."

L.E.: Tell us about your family.

Mr. Prusinski: My wife, Leslie, and I live in Cleveland Heights, just a few miles from Lutheran East, and we love being part of this community. Our families are spread out throughout the U.S., but are primarily here in Northeast Ohio.

We don't have a dog. Leslie wishes we did.

L.E.: Tell us about where you went to college.

Mr. Prusinski: I went to The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. It's a great liberal arts college that draws students from all over the world to bring some real diversity to the middle of nowhere Ohio. It's a school that prides itself on independent study as students collaborate with their professors. Athletics also play a pretty big role in life at Wooster - their men's basketball and baseball teams are some of the best at the NCAA DIII in the country.

L.E. Tell us about your hobbies or sports you are interested in

Mr. Prusinski: I am a pretty avid golfer, I enjoy playing ping pong, and working on my old house. Over the last year, I've started reading more for fun, and Leslie and I are in a book club that meets once a month called "Books and Brews."

L.E.: If you had to choose Ohio State or Michigan, which would it be?

Mr. Prusinski: Ohio State

L.E.: Why did you decide to become an educator?

Mr. Prusinski: I want to do something with my life that will hopefully impact this world for Jesus and for the better. Being an educator - especially one at a Christian school - is just this amazing opportunity to do something that matters each day. I want to spend my day doing work that is both challenging and valuable and education fits that bill.

L.E.: Is there anything else you would like us to know?

Mr. Prusinski: I like to cook!

We’d like to thank Mr. Prusinski for taking the time to interview with us. We all stand behind him as this exciting school year unfolds and promises much success for our class of 2016.
