Falcons Fly High with 44-0 Road Victory
The Lutheran East Falcons took care of business on Friday night by beating the Newbury Knights 44-0, and improving their record to 4-2. The dismantling began with a Will Hartson touchdown reception from Kaylin Heard in the first quarter, followed shortly by a Mark Churchill touchdown run. The balanced attack kept Newbury on their heels all night. Heard was able to spread the ball around to wide receivers Rodney Paradise and Julian Hicks as well. Hicks found the end zone in the second quarter along with Churchill who notched his second TD of the night. The Falcons went into halftime with a commanding 30-0 lead.
In the third quarter, Churchill finished off his amazing night with a third touchdown. He finished with 12 carries for 257 yards. Freshman Vashon Fussell put the final knock out touchdown in from 10 yards and the game was called quickly with 5 minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Falcon defense did a great job of stifling a tough Newbury scheme. Paradise, Churchill, Hartson led the linebacking group and Mark McCary played very well.
Next up for the Falcons is a tough road opponent in Hannibal River. They travel to Hannibal, OH on Friday night to take on the River Pilots.
Mark Churchill- 12 caries, 257 yards, 3 touchdowns
Kaylin Heard- 9/14 passing for 173 yards, 2 touchdowns
