The Lady Falcons came out BIG on Thursday night defeating Heritage Christian in the opening game of their Christmas Tournament 65-31. The tenacious full court press of the starting 5 produced a crushing 28-7 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Darjaney Edwards, Jamara McDowell, and Jazmyne Darby accounted for 25 steals while the team compiled an amazing 31 steals on the night. It was a great team win as the Lady Falcons put up 14 assists for each other with point guard Jamara McDowell leading the way with 5 assists. Darjaney Edwards and Jeri Pollard led the team on the scoreboard with 21 points and 13 points respectively. Sophomore guard Faith Hardnick also had a great night putting up 9 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. Freshman Shayla Scott notched her first career varsity point at the free throw line as well. Lutheran East now prepares to play Open Door in the championship game at 4:30 pm on Saturday night looking to improve their record to 6-2 on the year heading into Christmas break.
