Girls Basketball Splits a Pair

The Lady Falcons dropped a tough one against John Adams on Wednesday night. With a score of 50-47 Lutheran East could never quite get over the hump to tie the game up. Sloppy play led to an unusual amount of turnovers as the Lady Falcons struggled to find their rhythm early on in the game. The girls came roaring out of halftime after being down 6 and ended up winning the 2nd half but would still ultimately fall short. The Lady Falcons move to 8-4 on the season and look to play Community Christian this coming Friday on the road at 4:30 pm.

After losing a tough game on Wednesday night the Lady Falcons showed up ready to play Friday night with a commanding 66-29 victory over Community Christian. 4 of 5 starters finished with double digit points in what proved to be an extremely balanced scoring night! Juniors Jazmyne Darby and Darjaney Edwards led the pack with 16 points a piece followed by senior Jeri Pollard with 14 and Jamara McDowell with 12. Jeri Pollard and Jamara McDowell both had double-doubles on the night with Jeri pulling down an impressive 13 rebounds and Jamara McDowell coming up with an astounding 12 steals! Faith Hardnick worked her usual magic, shutting down the opposing point guard and holding her to just 4 points for the night. Post players Kaelin Cobb, Darjaney Edwards, and Jeri Pollard “were putting on a clinic down low” as observed by the opposing team’s coach. Overall it was a great team effort and Lutheran East now moves to 10-4 on the year after a forfeit from Open Door. The Lady Falcons now prepare for a re-match with Fairport Harding on Monday night on the road.
