Falcons Play Hard In Weekly Double Against Open Door

The Lady Falcons played the Open Door Patriots in a home and home series this past week and continued to show growth in losing efforts. The home game on Tuesday we lost in 3 sets with scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-4. The Falcons passed well - especially in the first set. We were led in passing by Victoria Montgomery, Marie Johnson, and Destinee Thompson. The Lady Falcons were led in serving in the first set by Destinee Thompson, who had a run of 3 before their coach had to call a time-out to stop the rally. The Falcons had cut it to 10-9 at that point. Open Door then pulled away. The second set was very similar. The Lady Falcons started out very strong and had the score at 16-12. Open Door then pulled away once again. Faith Hardnick also had a couple of blocks. Jeri Pollard had 2 service points and Destinee had 3. In the third set the Lady Falcons could not seem to get their hits in bounds and we ended up losing 25-4.

On Thursday the Lady Falcons made the trek out to Elyria to face the Patriots again. We lost in 3 sets again with scores of 25-11, 25-12, and 25-20. The Lady Falcons strengthened their play each and every set.  We were led in the second set by Marie Johnson's 3 service points. In the third set, the Lady Falcons controlled the net, especially Jeri Pollard. She had a great match overall. In the third set the Lady Falcons had Jeri with 3 service points, Destinee with 3 service points and Marie had a run of 5 service points. We played very hard and look to continue playing hard over the next two weeks before playoffs
