Christ-Centered Education for Life
Faculty Spotlight: Mr.Jabs

This week’s teacher spotlight focuses on a long-time faculty member here at Lutheran East: Mr. David Jabs. Mr. Jabs has taught both math and science during his tenure here at Lutheran East, and he has coached volleyball. Currently, Mr. Jabs teaching math and coaches basketball. Additionally, he helps in many ways behind the scenes like helping to recruit students in the summer. Mr. Jabs jovial attitude, great chapel presentations, and caring attitude are genuinely appreciated by staff, students, and parents alike.

Let’s see what Mr. Jabs has to share with us:

L.E.: What is your favorite Bible verse or quote?

Mr. Jabs: Psalm 121:1-2 "I lift my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord. The maker of Heaven and Earth."

L.E.: Tell us about your family.

Mr. Jabs: I am the youngest of 4 kids. I have 2 sisters and one brother. My brother and his wife have 3 little girls. I love my family dearly.

L.E.: Tell us about where you went to college.

Mr. Jabs: I went to college at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. It was a great 4 years. I learned a lot, and it was great to be in a Christian environment all of those years.

L.E. Tell us about your hobbies or sports you are interested in

Mr. Jabs: I really like to play sports. All sports are great. At different points in the year I play softball, volleyball, basketball, and soccer in different leagues. I also really enjoy watching sporting events.

L.E.: If you had to choose Ohio State or Michigan, which would it be?

Mr. Jabs: Michigan

L.E.: Why did you decide to become an educator?

Mr. Jabs: I decided to become an educator because while I was in high school I really helped a lot of the other students in my class with math. They would not always understand the way that our teacher taught it, so then I would break it down and help them out.

I love math. I really enjoy math all the time. I also love working with students. Our students are awesome! They make me laugh. They also make you work, but when I can break through and see them really learning, it is such a great feeling.

L.E.: Anything else you would like us to know (i.e., you wrestled a bear)?

Mr. Jabs: I would choose Wisconsin. But that wasn't a choice.

Thank you, Mr. Jabs! We wish you many more years at Lutheran East, and may they all be enjoyable ones!
