For the second Teacher Spotlight, we will feature Mrs. Roberta Dobbins. Previously a teacher at St. John Nottingham, Mrs. Dobbins comes to Lutheran East as both a math and English teacher. Mrs. Dobbins has “hit the ground running” with the students, and she is really doing an awesome job!

During the interview all respondents were asked a series of questions to help us learn more about them. See what Mrs. Dobbins has to say:

L.E.: What is your favorite Bible verse or quote?

Mrs. Dobbins: John 10:28-30 (NIV)

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

L.E.: Tell us about your family.

Mrs. Dobbins: I am a widow of 2+ years; my husband, Russell, and I were married for almost 30 years when he was taken home (cancer). I have 2 grown daughters, Augusta and Hailey. Hailey has been married for just over a year to a young man who is studying at Seminary in St. Louis to be a Lutheran pastor.

L.E.: Tell us about where you went to college.

Mrs. Dobbins: I Graduated from CSU with a BBA with a major in accounting and worked as a managerial accountant for 8 years.

Once my children entered middle school, I went to Ashland University to earn my teacher's license in their Bachelor's Plus program.

L.E. Tell us about your hobbies or sports you are interested in

Mrs. Dobbins: I like all types of sports; I like gardening and reading.

L.E.: If you had to choose Ohio State or Michigan, which would it be?

Mrs. Dobbins: Ohio State

L.E.: Why did you decide to become an educator?

Mrs. Dobbins: My own children had poor teachers and I was reteaching concepts at home and thought who is helping those kids whose parents are unable to reteach those concepts at home.

L.E.: Anything else you would like us to know?

Mrs. Dobbins: Prior to having my children, I raised and showed Smooth and Rough Collies in confirmation. I earned a championship with a Smooth Collie.

We wish Mrs. Dobbins many happy years here at Lutheran East. We are excited to have this amazing addition to our faculty. We pray God’s blessings on her in the school year ahead.
